Paraguaná. PDVSA La Estancia Paraguaná, a social and cultural branch of the new PDVSA also responsible for restoring the value of heritage assets, is celebrating its ninth anniversary of unstoppable management. This strong instrument for the construction of Bolivarian Socialism and Joyful Living has produced 5,838 activities that have benefited 1,878,437 people of all ages.

For nearly a decade of Joyful Living in Falcón state, in north west Venezuela, this cultural oasis of Paraguaná Peninsula with its commanding sea view, has shared its social achievements with the people. On June 21, 2008, the former residence of Paraguaná Refining Center’s general manager, of the old PDVSA, was recovered and remodeled.

After the defeat of the terrible oil sabotage 2002-2003 (the strike and accompanying acts of sabotage against PDVSA), led by Eternal Commander Hugo Chávez, culture was transformed. The fair distribution of the oil revenues nourished culture -it advanced in Revolution; its greatest diversity was disseminated and put in the service of the majority of the people, using as a criteria quality, free of charge, and endurance.

Progress has been significant through the lines of action –social, cultural and restoring the value of heritage assets. However, in recent years the enemies of the people, those behind the state coup attempt and the oil sabotage, are relentlessly trying to suppress the rights that have been achieved and defeat the Bolivarian Revolution.

The work has not stopped, despite the difficulties. On the contrary, resources have been optimized with activities, training workshops and guided tours in communities and schools. The positive impact has been such that we occupy a seat of honor among the preferences of Paraguaná families.

For nine years, since 2008, PDVSA La Estancia Paraguaná has been the stage to showcase local talent with national outlook. It has promoted regional identity, heritage, roots, what we long for, and above all, the essence of who we are: a working, creative people of refined consciousness, who does a lot with little and is not intimidated by difficult moments.

Fighting runs through the veins of the men and women of Paraguaná. Their historic past of struggle lives in the thought of Josefa Camejo, José Leonardo Chirino, Pablo "Chema" Saher, the necessary songs of Alí Primera, and many others.

Cardón Cinema and Skate Plaza, icons of the Siembra Petrolera

PDVSA La Estancia, through the Siembra Petrolera Plan, built the Skate Plaza in the Metropolitan Park of the city of Punto Fijo, for the Joyful Living of the people of Paraguaná. Extreme sports are practiced at the plaza, such as skateboarding, which has been accepted by the International Olympic Committee. Young people have organized to train other young people and children in professional skateboarding and become pioneers in this state initiative.

Another icon of the Siembra Petrolera Plan and Joyful Living is Cardón Cinema, in the Cardón Community. It is a grand cinema which was restored comprehensively through the restoring the value of heritage assets action line to promote socio-cultural activities such as workshops and film screenings. It also provides an open air, renovated space which is unique in the country for public gatherings of educational institutions, public and private.

These two icons of Venezuelan architecture add to the long list of achievements of the new PDVSA, with the support of People’s Power and the Bolivarian Revolution, to continue building and recovering spaces for peace and life, and the benefit of the people of Falcón state.
